GE Scientific Session - Satellite Symposium

We would like to invite you to the GE Healthcare Satellite Symposium at EUROECHO 2011.

Added value of 2D and 4D deformation imaging in clinical settings

Wednesday, December 7, 2011 - 12:45 - 13:45
Room: Szeged - Lecture room

Chairpersons: F. Flachskampf (Uppsala, SE), L. Badano (Padua, IT)

  • Speckle Tracking 2D Strain imaging in cardiomyopathies
    B. A. Popescu (Bucharest, RO)
  • Deformation imaging to assess cardiac mechanics in valvular heart diseases
    P. Lancellotti (Liege, BE)
  • Characterization of myocardial function in patients with recanalized STEMI by 4D deformation imaging
    L. Badano (Padua, IT)

IMAGING CAMPUS - The Educational Platform of EUROECHO

The Imaging Campus is designed to offer you a unique opportunity for practical training and/or hands-on learning experience in key areas of non-invasive imaging with specific objectives and credit approval. GE will support the following sessions on Thursday December 8th.

Fundamentals of Speckle Tracking 2D Strain – Session A
How Does It Work ? Principals - Pitfalls - Live Cases – Future Outlook (hands-on with GE EchoPAC)

09:00 - 10:30     Prof. Jens Uwe Voigt, Leuven (Belgium)
14:00 - 15:30     Prof. A. Hagendorff, Leipzig (Germany)

Clinical use of Speckle Tracking 2D Strain based AFI and AutoEF – Session B
Objectifying global and regional function and EF - Live Cases – Future Outlook (hands-on with GE EchoPAC)

12:00 - 13:30     Prof. A. Hagendorff, Leipzig (Germany)
16:00 - 17:30     Prof. Jens Uwe Voigt, Leuven (Belgium)

Course Objectives:
This hands-on session will introduce you in the world of function imaging. We will review the basics of Speckle Tracking 2D Strain and practice the analysis of data sets on EchoPAC workstations. Direct interaction with the lecturer will help you to avoid beginner's mistakes. At the end of the course you will be familiar with the relevant parameters to describe myocardial function and be able to distinguish normal deformation patterns from pathology. The session will be completed with an informative outlook into the functional analysis of 3D data sets.

Registration at www.escardio.org for the Imaging Campus sessions is mandatory as the number of participants at each session is restricted to 30. Online registration is possible from October 21st. Entrance fee is €25 per session.
